JOURNEYS | The Road Home

The mission of JOURNEYS | The Road Home is to individually assess and serve the homeless and near homeless, while broadening community awareness and involvement with the homeless. Even in a community as fortunate as ours, the specter of homelessness hovers near many who walk among us. At JOURNEYS | The Road Home, our charge is to end that haunting specter by empowering individuals to take charge of their lives. We are the only provider in north/northwest Cook County to offer both shelter and social services to the homeless and at-risk, and for those that don't think this is a problem in our area, think again! We served nearly 900 clients this past year. We're not only providing temporary shelter to those without a home, or serving a hot meal to those that are hungry. We are empowering individuals to take control of their lives and find an independent way to a more stable secure life's journey. What do we do? Our PADS program is comprised of 18 faith based sites that provide overnight shelter, including dinner, breakfast, and a sack lunch. The program is staffed by over 2,000 volunteers, and during the last year housed an average of 70 guests per night. At the Hope Center we work every day solving the crisis of homelessness in our community. We work with homeless and at-risk individuals and families to set them on a path to a better life. We provide food, clothing, counseling, and more. Help us take charge and make a change in our community! **All Volunteers must attend a mandatory Volunteer Orientation!**
