We are collecting themed gift baskets to auction off at our annual spring fundraiser--Virtual is (Still) the New Black Tie happening Saturday, April 17th! Home Delivered Meal drivers are in HIGH needed on Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (approx) to bring meals to home-bound seniors. Mileage reimbursement is available. Drivers will arrive at the senior center at 9:30 on your scheduled day to deliver the meals in a timely fashion. If client does not answer door, you will report to Nutrition Coordinator so that there can be a follow up to ensure that the client is OK. Home Delivered Meals and other senior meal delivery programs provide millions of meals to seniors throughout the United States each year. Through such programs, seniors who could not or would not otherwise eat properly are provided with services that help live a healthy and enjoyable life. A volunteer must be at least 21 years of age, have a vehicle in proper working order, clear driving record, proof of vehicle insurance, pleasant personality and excellent customer service. Must be able to lift 15-20 lbs and be capable of walking to and from your vehicle. Commitment is 2-4 hours per week. Orientation and training with existing volunteer is provided.

Weekday Home-Delivered Meals Drivers Needed for Des Plaines/Mt. Prospect Areas YOU can help older adults remain independent in their own homes! Home-Delivered Meals Drivers make a big difference in an older adult’s life. Last year drivers delivered over 36,000 meals to at-risk, home-bound, older adults in Elk Grove and Schaumburg Townships. Home-Delivered Meals are delivered three days a week. Most drivers take one route per week (Mondays, Wednesdays and/or Fridays) for about two hours per route. The Meals program is not just about dropping off boxed- or bagged-meals. It is intended to enhance older adults’ safety through wellness checks and to provide some sort of human contact throughout the week. You use your vehicle to provide hot and nutritious meals, wellness checks and a friendly smile to home-bound older adults. Routes are kept within 10 miles of your location in Elk Grove Township and/or Schaumburg Townships. Every meal delivered by a volunteer offers Kenneth Young Center staff the opportunity to increase the quality and amount of their time they can spend with participants in our Older Adult programs.
