Friendly Visitor
The Friendly Visitor program at the center matches a volunteer with a homebound client. We are looking for fun, compassionate people to share in beneficial friendship with a senior. Friendly visitors have flexible hours mutually determined by the senior and the volunteer; this program is amenable to anyone's schedule. Offering social interaction to seniors is a great way to keep them connected to the community and to bridge intergenerational gaps. We suggest doing a variety of activities during a visit: read the paper or mail, play games, enjoy a cup of coffee, or reminisce about the "good old days." We will do our best to match the volunteer with a senior who shares similar interests.
Our hope is that the friendly visitor and senior will meet for at least one hour per week. Volunteers must be 18 years & older.
A valid driver's license and proof of car insurance is required. A background check must also be completed.
