Front Desk Assistant lntern-Volunteer Position

Qualified applicants must have a good understanding of issues and needs surrounding older adults and people with disabilities, as well as an understanding of poverty, or willingness to learn. Ability to work with a diverse population of residents, including residents whose first language may not be English. A volunteer should be able to demonstrate a positive, up-beat attitude with professional, ethical, compassionate, and responsible behavior.

Front Desk Responsibilities
  • Answer phone calls and triage as necessary
  • Greet and check in clients for appointments
  • Greet and assist walk-in clients
  • Utilize excellent customer service skills and empathy while working with our clientele
  • Process temporary parking placards for people with disabilities
  • Assist clients with Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) reduced fare or free ride applications
  • Register residents to receive our newsletters and/or for transportations services
  • Schedule client appointments with our senior citizen will program
  • Utilize the resource directory in making referrals to clients

Time Commitment
  • Must have some availability Mondays thru Fridays 8:30am-5:30pm
  • Minimum of two hours each week
  • Minimum six months' commitment or one semester
Requirements
  • Experience working in a customer service capacity, preferred
  • Prior experience with older adults and people with disabilities, preferred
  • Able to make time commitments listed above
  • Able to successfully pass a full criminal background check
  • Attend on-site orientation and training
  • Able to work well with staff, other volunteers, and clientele
  • Flexibility and ability to maintain calm under a variety of situations
