Children's Advocacy Center Receptionist/Waiting Room Assistant

The Children’s Advocacy Center of North and Northwest Cook County is the leading resource to empower and heal abused children and prevent violence against children. We serve 38 communities in the Cook County area and see over 1,000 children and their families each year.

We are seeking a volunteer to help provide a welcoming atmosphere for families at the center.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer phone and transfer to staff

  • Greet families and show them to the waiting areas

  • Greet MDT members and direct them to the conference room

  • Retrieve received faxes and provide them to staff

  • Keep receptionist and waiting areas organized and clean

  • Routinely sanitize toys (preferably once a week)

  • Keep toys sorted and organized

  • Supervise families in the waiting areas

  • Initiate coloring, games, and/or play with children

  • Other duties or tasks as assigned by CAC administration

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must pass background checks

  • Willingness to commit to a consistent, mutually agreed upon schedule within the hours of 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday through Friday

  • Previous experience working within a families and children preferred

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish would be helpful, but not required

  • You are passionate about our work with children and families who may have experienced or witnessed abuse.

  • You are outgoing and comfortable engaging with children and families.

  • You are organized with the skill to multitask and prioritize.
