Butterfly Stewards

Butterfly stewards are needed to help raise monarch butterflies at Spring Valley’s Monarch Rearing Station and help teach visitors about monarchs during daily monarch releases. Learn what’s involved in collecting monarch eggs and nurturing them through all four phases of development until they are released as adults. Volunteers will learn to tend to the potted milkweed and feed the growing caterpillars, clean and maintain the caterpillar cages, and nurture them through their molting and chrysalis stages. Time commitment is one shift weekly. Available shifts times are 9-10:30am and 2-3:30pm, 7 days a week. Must be able to attend an orientation on Saturday, June 22 from 9-11am in order to participate.
