Social Services Receptionist

Provide clerical assistance to the Social Services division. Job functions include: schedule appointments for Social Service staff, answer basic questions regarding governmental programs, and resources, make reminder phone calls, and various other clerical duties. Qualifications: confidence with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of use of phone, copier, and fax machine. Awareness of HIPPA rules. Must be comfortable sitting and standing. Background check, and signed confidentiality statement required. Bi cultural/Bilingual preferred. Train and shadow with existing volunteer.

Time commitment once a week: Current times needed
 

  • Mondays 12:30-4:30pm
  • Tuesdays 8:30-12:30pm
  • Wednesdays 8:30-12:30pm and 12:30-4:30pm


Social Services Hanover Township has over 100,000 residents and provides programs that serve all ages. The township service area encompasses Streamwood residents live within its boundaries; also portions of Bartlett, Elgin, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, and unincorporated Cook County.

The Department of Senior Services has programs that help people aged 55 and over to Enrich Lives, Foster Friendships, and Promote Independence. Through nutrition (home-delivered meals and cafe lunches), transportation (dial-a-bus service to medical, dialysis, shopping, etc), recreational (day trips, exercise classes, art and computer classes, etc), and Social Services (connect people to resources such as public aid programs, heating, and cooling assistance, prescription drug programs, etc) .

The department has earned national accreditation status from the National Council on Aging, National Institute of Senior Centers twice. The center is known for its innovative programs, but also for its welcoming and friendly environment. The Social Services Division of the department makes an impactful change in the lives of our residents, ensuring they are supported and able to maintain their independence at home.
