Lunch Buddies: Mentor at Euclid Elementary in Mt. Prospect

Who: HandsOn Suburban Chicago (HOSC) needs reliable mentors like YOU to provide at-risk students the support they need to flourish in school and beyond.

What: Lunch Buddies Mentoring offers students the chance to form stable, trusting relationships with non-family adults. Under the supervision of the school’s social worker, volunteers will work one on one with students, getting to know them by playing games and doing crafts. Applicants must be willing to undergo a background check.

When & Where: We are now accepting tutor applications for spring 2020, which will commence in January and run through early June. The program takes place in 50 min. chunks on Mondays through Fridays from 10:45 am to 1:25 pm at Euclid Elementary School in Mount Prospect (1211 North Wheeling Rd, Mt Prospect, IL, 60056). Choose and commit to one day or more per week. Applicants must be 18 or over.

Why: Research has proven that children who have at least one caring adult in their lives achieve more than those who do not. Plus, mentoring is a fun and rewarding experience. Volunteers have consistently reported that working with students has boosted their self-confidence and given them an incredible sense of satisfaction in knowing their contributions have positively impacted their mentees.
