TBS Afterschool Tutor at Holmes Middle School

CHiL (Afterschool) Tutor at Holmes Middle School

Who: HandsOn Suburban Chicago (HOSC) needs YOU this fall to help at-risk students get on track to graduate!

What: CHiL (Cooper, Holmes, and London) is a volunteer-based afterschool program that provides homework help to at-risk middle school students. In addition to academic support, CHiL at Holmes Middle School in Wheeling offers students social-emotional learning activities. Volunteers generally work with small groups of students and under the direction of program staff.

Where and When: We are now accepting applications for the fall semester, which is expected to begin in September and run through the end of December. Volunteer tutors are needed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:15 pm at Holmes Middle School (221 S. Wolf Rd., Wheeling, IL 60090). Choose and commit to one day or more each week. Mandatory orientation/training is TBD in September. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a background check.

Why: Tutoring is a fun and rewarding experience. In addition to the satisfaction that comes with positively impacting those in need, volunteering in schools is an ideal way to meet new people, enhance your resume, and/or learn new skills. Completing community service may also help youth volunteers qualify for scholarships.
