Make the Holidays Brighter through Adopt a Family

This year, KYC’s Adopt a Family drive has shifted from physical gifts to gift cards in an effort to promote social distancing and minimize exposure risk for COVID-19. Although a gift card may not feel like the most exciting gift to give, it is a deeply appreciated opportunity for our clients who receive them. Check out the impact you make and the many ways you can make the holidays brighter for KYC’s clients this holiday season. Giving a gift card to parents is truly a gift that gives twice. Your gift creates an opportunity of empowerment to buy gifts or a special holiday meal and creates lasting holiday memories for their families. Your gift helps older adults feel connected and appreciated. Your gift sends a message that you care, and creates an opportunity to spread cheer to someone who may be more isolated than ever this holiday season. Your gift gives kids the opportunity to choose something that is important to them all on their own, without creating extra expenses for their families. It helps children express their individuality as they personally select a gift that will bring them the most joy. Express Interest to make the holidays for a KYC client or family.

Become a PanPal

Approximately half of all Center for Enriched Living (CEL) members live in residential agencies. Many of these members have limited interaction with family members on a regular basis, and with the Coronavirus that has been compounded. We want to continue to engage with our members even though our building is closed. To do so, we’re returning to the lost art of letter-writing. If you would like to participate, you can send a letter, picture, card to a member and let them know that you’re thinking of them during this time. Express Interest below for more details.

Holiday Gift Giving Program

Our holiday gift program provides three great ways for individuals, groups, and businesses to help make the holidays a little brighter for the women and children we serve. Gift of Hope: One spark of hope can change the journey of a mother or child for the rest of their life. By giving a monetary donation this holiday season, you can help our families with the large expense of childcare, groceries, rent or utilities. Checks can be made out to Home of the Sparrow. Gift of Opportunity: By donating items needed on the Shelter Wish List, it provides the women and children with basic needs as they move into the shelter or move out into their own housing. This gives them the opportunity to focus on achieving self-sufficiency knowing that their basic needs are met. Our Shelter Wish List can be found at: https://www.hosparrow.org/how-to-help/shelter-wish-list/ Gift of Support: By adopting a mother, child, or family in our program, you will have the ability to provide Support during the holidays. Due to COVID-19 and social distancing restrictions, we are asking donors to purchase gift cards for each family member this year, which will allow the women to shop for their children online. Gifts cards can be mailed or dropped off at our office. Purchasing items on their holiday wish list helps make their Holidays a little brighter. For more information Express Interest below. Thank you so much for your interest in our holiday gift program! Every little bit counts, so please feel free to choose among the different options that work best for you.
