Little City's Giving Tuesday Holiday Crafting Event

We have a day for giving thanks and two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, November 27th, 2018 people around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. As we approach the Holiday Season. Little City would like to invite you to the Little City Main Campus to participate in Holiday Crafts and Sensory Item making. Holiday Gift & Craft Fair

Customers choose from the fine art and craft work of talented vendors, tasty food products, etc from all over the Lakeshore. Volunteers assist at our booths with the sale of yummy chocolates, cookies, treats & holiday gifts. Location: Arlington Race Track Dates and Times: Thursday, November 29 | 1pm – 9pm Friday, November 30 | 11am – 9pm Saturday, December 1 | 9am – 6pm Sunday, December 2 | 10am – 5pm There are 2 shifts available each day.

Breakfast with Santa Brunch

Families enjoy a brunch lunch and picture with Santa at our Cafe. They then have a festive time doing simple holiday crafts at our Visitors Center. Volunteers are needed to help customers at Cafe with taking pics with Santa, greeting, pouring coffee, assisting staff, selling raffle tickets, etc. At the Visitors Center they will help with simple holiday crafts with the children and parents. Holiday Party

Help with set up of the holiday party. Putting together the goodie bags, decorating the tables with table clothes and balloons. Setting up the snack area. This is from 10am to 12pm Then the actual holiday party for our adults with intellectual disabilities by greeting them, motivating our clients to get up and dance and have fun; engage the clients in activities. Help in passing out the snacks and treats to our clients. Looking for Face painting!!!

Adopt-A-Family

Many families in Palatine Township financial situation will not allow them to experience a joyous holiday season. You can help one of these families by "adopting" them for the holidays, beginning October 12th. Gifts will be collected and distributed to the families on Saturday, December 15th.

Holiday Angel Tree Program

Palatine Township’s Angel Tree program begins November 1. The township lobby will be filled with special “angel” ornaments that include the name, age and “wish” of a child or senior citizen in need. All wrapped gifts can be dropped off during normal business hours no later than Dec 3. The Adopt a Family program is also collecting gifts for families in the township that are in need – all gifts for this program need to be collected by distribution dates of Dec 15.

Holiday Adopt a Family Drive

Each holiday season, Kenneth Young Center (KYC) organizes an Adopt a Family drive to provide clients with the highest needs extra support and holiday cheer. KYC is seeking "captains" to be the key point person for each corporation, church, family, or community group. Captains would work to promote the donation drive, deliver the gifts or work to schedule a pick-up by KYC. Gifts will be due by December 7, 2018. How it works: decide how many gifts, $25 to $50, your group will give, KYC will provide client wish lists, collect and wrap the gifts, and deliver to KYC's Elk Grove office.

Conduct a Winter Coat and Gear Drive

Organize a winter coat and winter gear drive at your own location - school, work place, neighborhood or faith community. Deliver items once the drive is completed to 1458 Chicago Ave between 6-9 pm or by appointment. Volunteers can also choose to deliver the donations on Wednesdays, 2-4 pm and sort their donation in the clothing room during our homeless drop in program. Please note that adult items and larger sizes are in greatest need.

Holiday Deliveries

The joy that you give to others is the joy that comes back to you! Thanksgiving Meal deliveries will be mid November. Holiday plany delivery to seniors is the beginning of December. Meal and plant pick-up is at our offices. All deliveries are going to isolated seniors in the Maine Township area.

Organize A Food Pantry Drive

Plan a drive in your neighborhood, social club or school for a local food pantry! This is a great time to begin collecting food for needy families in the area. madd14 Items needed are non perishable canned foods, jar foods, dry food, breakfast foods and household items i.e. toilet paper, toothpaste, shampoo & deodorant, soap & detergent. No expired expiration dates please. Volunteers of all ages can help.
