Prairie State CERT Challenge
Saturday, October 18th, 2014
The 2014 Prairie State Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Challenge will be held at College of DuPage Homeland Security Education Center located in Glen Ellyn. The CERT Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
This event, hosted by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), will be bringing 11 teams from the state of Illinois to test their skills in a simulated disaster situation. This event could not happen without the support of Volunteers. Volunteers are needed in various positions, including Registration - Greeters, working as Victims in role player situations, assigned escorts for the teams,
Parking Lot assistance and Station Assistances. If you are interested in helping out with this event, please fill out the forms below. Volunteer assignments are listed on the Volunteer Registration form. A Training will be available for assigned positions. As a volunteer, observing the CERT teams in action is inspiring to watch! If you have any questions please contact: Linda Trilling by email: email@example.com
Please do not be overwhelmed by the forms that need to be filled out. IEMA has required forms, as well does College of DuPage since we are using their facility. Thank you for your patience!
