Breakfast Briefs

Breakfast Briefs are hour and a half long seminars. Topics vary annually to help volunteer managers and nonprofit organizations. Often, one of our corporate partners will join the seminar to add their expertise.

Breakfast Briefs are held at: Forest View Education Center, 2121 S Goebbert Rd, Arlington Heights IL 60005 (Unless specified otherwise)

Offered throughout the year, Breakfast Briefs are complimentary to current Community Partners and $15 for non-partners. *Executive Sessions are $10 for current Community Partners and $30 for non-partners.

Board Diversity and Board Governance in Action

Ella Liberman and Jillian Walsh from Zurich NA will share a presentation on Nonprofit Board best practices. The presentation will be focused on discussion around the following topics:

  • Recruiting New Board Members
  • The value of Diversifying the Board
  • Fundamental Legal Duties of Board Members
  • Good Governance Practices
  • Executive Director Evaluation

Ella Liberman is AVP & Assistant General Counsel for Zurich in North America. She concentrates on Corporate Governance, Corporate Licensing and Regulatory Matters, Marketing, Advertising and Communications, Data Privacy & Security, and Intellectual Property.  She has been instrumental in creating and implementing corporate governance policies and handling general corporate matters such as development of board agendas, minutes, and committee charters. Ella is currently serving on the Board of Directors for HandsOn Suburban Chicago. 
 

Jillian Walsh is Director, North America Engagement for Zurich in North America. She leads the company's corporate giving, community relations, and employee engagement initiatives. Walsh and her team steward nonprofit relationships with national core charities and more than 300 local nonprofits focusing on fundraising, education, and volunteerism. She oversees the grants process, and provides meaningful and sustainable opportunities for Zurich employees to serve the community and give voice to Zurich values. Jillian served as a past board member for HandsOn Suburban Chicago and the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation's Advisory Board.
